Eating healthy over the holidays can be really tough! On days like Thanksgiving when there's an endless supply of dips, casseroles, gravy, pies, and eggnog at arms length, it can be almost impossible. We like to indulge as much as the next person, but we like throwing more nutritious foods in the mix that taste amazing AND give us the energy we need to fight that 3pm food coma. Here are 5 of our favorite Thanksgiving table additions that have all the flavor with less of the coma-inducing carbs and bad fats:
1. Cauliflower
Serve it mashed with your favorite seasonings for the perfect potato replacement.
2. Brussels Sprouts
Roast em, bake em, add bacon! So many ways to dress up these nutrient dense veggies.
3. Cranberries
Make cranberry sauce from scratch to avoid the GMOs in canned varieties.
4. Butternut Squash
Roast it with cinnamon for a fall twist on this vitamin-A powerhouse.
5. Garlic
Add some to your potatoes or veggies for an added boost of antioxidants.
Have a happy, healthy Thanksgiving!
