Why is naturally red and pink colored produce good for us?

Well, research shows that these fruits and veggies have phytochemicals, such as lycopene which you may have heard of, that help keep us in tip top shape. Read below for our top red and pink Suja juice picks!

 

Lavenade: With its dose of lemon, red cabbage, maqui berry, and lavender, this soothing treat will keep you humming. While we all know lavender to be calming when we drip some essential oils in our bath, studies have also shown that it’s antibacterial as well. Red cabbage is known for vitamin C as well, and it has anthocyanins which are the pigments that give it its purple color! Plus, the maqui berry in this juice offers a great health boost. You’ve heard of acai but in the same family is maqui berry, grown only in a small part of Southern Chile. This antioxidant helps reduce post-workout inflammation in the body, and studies have also shown it has antibacterial properties as well.

Spark: This is the queen of red juice! It’s full of heart-healthy strawberries just like their shape would suggest. The tart cherry contains ingredients that fight swelling and promote recovery so this is particularly great for after a workout. Tart cherry juice also helps regulate our sleep cycle because it contains melatonin, a molecule that helps promote longer sleep duration and quality! The raspberry and lemon juice have vitamin C and antioxidants that are needed for cell repair and immune function. Honey has a variety of uses, not to mention valuable minerals, and can help with throat irritation.

Sweet Beets: The name says it all. The red color of this juice comes from the beets in it. Beets have natural nitrates and manganese, a mineral that’s good for bones. Our body makes nitrates into nitric oxide that increases blood flow and boosts stamina. That’s why many athletes have used the juice of beets to enhance performance since it improves blood flow to muscles and the removal of byproducts such as lactic acid. The carrots in this juice deliver vitamins and minerals that improve immunity and research has shown improve eye sight as well. The superfood highlight in this mix is the turmeric. This is post-workout inflammation’s best weapon due to its main active compound, curcumin. Various studies have shown a number of different molecules involved in inflammation that are stopped by curcumin.
