We’re so honored to have breast cancer survivor and advocate @vibe_with_v on our blog this month for #breastcancerawarenessmonth
Read about her story and journey with B4BC as a breast cancer survivor.
___________
Cancer taught me to be patient, truly love, and cherish every moment.
I watched this disease affect nearly every female in my family for years (grandma, auntie, cousins, and my mom). Diagnosed at age 26 with Stage 0 Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS) of the left breast (May 14 2015). I felt angry, confused, and unbelievably alone.
It is so disheartening how fast things can be ripped away from you… to only wish upon your wildest dreams to have the opportunity to do them again. This was my darkest time and I was fighting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
A few years later post diagnosis I found myself detached and lonely. I needed friends. I had an active lifestyle but needed support. My old friends drifted and I needed a new type of friendship. Friends that would fight, could easily shake things off and climb mountains without a second thought. The thrivers of the world.
B4BC
I stumbled across @B4BC on social media in 2018 after relentlessly searching for a community of women that shared a similar cancer diagnosis. After seeing an open announcement on instagram, I applied and was awarded participation in the 2018 Chasing Sunshine retreat located in Encinitas, CA. What an absolutely life changing experience this was. I was able to spend time with some of the most inspiring women. People that not only understand you but give life meaning, reward, and true adventures.
B4bc gives back resources and tools educating young people on early detection. Year round a series of events are hosted to raise awareness and promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
This month we have an amazing partnership between b4bc and suja. Head to
