Does a Natural Detox Cleanse Really Work?

After a long weekend of jet-setting to “bucket list” destinations or perhaps indulging in a sweet treat (or drink) extravaganza, you might wake up the next morning craving a total reset—a full “detox”! It’s important to acknowledge that our bodies are already equipped with a robust (and natural) cleansing system that can eradicate unwanted impurities. But every once in a while, we might yearn for a little boost or kickstart, which could propel us forward in our wellness journey.

So today, we’ll be answering the looming question - does a natural detox cleanse really work? We’ll also touch on some effects and how a cleanse can impact your overall health. Let’s jump in!

But First…What is a Natural Detox Cleanse?

While our bodies have natural detoxification systems in place, adopting a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, sufficient hydration, and other healthy lifestyle habits can support these processes. A natural detox cleanse is typically designed to help “accelerate” support your body’s natural detoxification processes. Generally, a detox cleanse is short-term and could be structured in various ways. For instance, some might only involve the consumption of whole foods, like an array of colorful fruits and veggies.
